Now on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

In case you haven’t noticed from the pretty new icons (thanks Shay!), Cookie Monster Cooking is now on facebook, twitter and instagram!  I figured it was about time for me to get with the whole social media thing and I’m excited for another way to interact with all you lovely readers.  When I started this blog, I really didn’t think that anyone other than my mom, sister and a few other family members / friends would read this thing.  It means the world to me that you all take the time out of your day to stop by, read my stories and say hello.  I can’t even begin to tell you how big of a smile I get everytime I read one of your comments or get an email letting me know that you loved one of the recipes.   So seriously, thank you.  You all rock : )

So, if you want to follow along, head over to my pages on facebook, twitter, instagram and of course pinterest!

As a side note, can I make a confession?  Social media is completely intimidating to me.  Whew, I feel much better getting that off my chest.  It’s actually one of the reasons I’ve held out for so long.  But I think it’s good to get out of my comfort zone, so here we go.  If you have any advice on social media I’m all ears!  Twitter baffles me, so please excuse me if I sound ridiculous while I get the hang of it!

And because every post is better with a picture, check out this shot of my lovely beagle.  Every single time I take photos she circles the area and tries to find new ways to get to the food.  Silly girl.

Oh and that’s my husband’s hand in the photo.  I don’t have giant man hands.  Just saying!

Well, Ashley, you are light years ahead of me. I need a dictionary just to understand what Shannon is talking about! I am not going near twitter but I am very very slowly trying to learn to optimize Pinterest. But based on how little I understood of what Shannon suggests, I guess I have a loooong way to go. :) Good luck. The fun is in the journey.

Congrats on taking the plunge! Here are a few tips you might already know.

    1. You can use hootsuite to automatically schedule tweets – twitter’s peak time is mid afternoon, so you want to make sure you have at least one tweet about your post going out then.
    2. You can use pingraphy to schedule your pins – peak times are 5-7am and 5-7pm – you will want to pin images just before these peak times to have the best chance of your pins showing up in the main feed.
    3. You can update your FB page via twitter or instagram so you do less double work – there are lots of ways to do this, but best explained with a tutorial or friend to guide you.

All of this should make social media less intimidating. Once a night you can get 4-5 pins and tweets scheduled in about 15 minutes and then not have to think about them for the rest of the day! Enjoy!

Now I am off to go pin some of my favorite recipes of yours!
